The Republic of Lebanon recognized the independence of Ukraine on December 30th 1991.
Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Lebanon were established on December 14th 1992.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Beirut first opened in August 1995.
The modern premises of the Embassy are located in the city of Baabda, in the south-eastern suburbs of Beirut.
The main task of the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon is to represent the interests of Ukraine, to promote the development of political, economic, cultural, scientific ties, as well as to protect the rights and interests of citizens and legal entities of Ukraine residing in Lebanon.
The embassy promotes the development of interstate relations between Ukraine and Lebanon at all levels, with the aim of ensuring the harmonious development of mutual relations, as well as cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
This project “Ukrainians of Lebanon” was created on the initiative and assistance of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Lebanon Ihor Ostash (2016-2022).
During the leadership of Ambassador Ihor Ostash, a new stage of qualitative and positive changes in Ukrainian-Lebanese relations was initiated, Ukraine became a real partner for Lebanon, it was possible to abolish Soviet myths about Ukraine and gather interest in Ukraine’s own history and culture.
The staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon is also an important part of the “Ukrainians of Lebanon” project. After all, thanks to the dedicated and coordinated work of the Embassy’s employees, during 2016-2022, an extremely large number of cultural and diplomatic projects were implemented, which you can now learn about on the website.
